HealthGuard – Be Happy

On the trail of  other relaxing shots we have “Be Happy Mood Booster” made by HealthGuard, a company out of California. It’s a “mood enhancing” chocolate-cherry flavored shot, packed in a two ounce bottle. Since Californians seem to be a pretty happy bunch, it would seem it is a logical place for such a product to have its origins. According to the marketing it’s supposed to get you, “out of the doldrums and puts that spring back in your step.”

Before I talk about the drink itself, I feel I should mention, I wasn’t particularly tired, stressed or “in the doldrums” when I drank it. Nor do I buy supplements, like Be Happy. I used a glass to check out the looks of what I was drinking, the brown color was a little offsetting to me, but most people wouldn’t really notice as they would drink it right from the bottle. Drinking it, which I was looking forward to, wasn’t a pleasant experience for me. I found it too sweet and medicinal, like cherry cough syrup.

As for making me feel happy, I honestly think I should have waited to be more tired or cranky to try it as I didn’t notice much of a difference. On the upside, I didn’t notice any negative side-effects either. I did feel somewhat more focused, but nothing really noticeable.

In the end, because of its taste and slightly expensive price, personally, I would consider other alternatives to improve my mood. However, I do think it would be a great idea for someone who has had a long, draining, week at work and needed a little push to make it through that last day or so. I would be willing to try Be Happy again if I found myself stressed out or anxious.
