Virgil's - Real Cola

Virgil's, a company that strives to create hand crafted sodas bring in all natural ingredients from around the world to their brewery. These sodas are actually brewed with yeast yielding a more natural carbonation instead of the forced mechanical carbonated sodas offered by other companies. When brewing soda the yeast is allowed to ferment, but is chilled immediately when the drink is carbonated and it is not allowed to fully ferment like alcohol.

Real Cola is their take on the standard cola. When I took the first drink I was trying to place the taste, it had a faint cream soda feel to it. I then noticed that the list of ingredients included vanilla, along with some other oils and spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. While I couldn't make out the other flavors, the vanilla was stronger. I was actually quite surprised that it contained no caffeine, although I could probably do with less caffeine intake.

My first few sips seemed promising, the creamy aftertaste made me feel good about this drink. Sadly I was somewhat disappointed with the other ingredients, the vanilla flavoring was really noticeable making this feel more like a cream soda, or vanilla cola.

I got it from my local Dillons (AKA: Kroger) in their oranic section. It looks like you can grab it from Amazon or you can grab it from their website at Virgils.com.

This beverage tastes good with its interesting blend of spices. However, there's one thing that Virgil's "Real Cola" lacks... real kola. You'd think that a cola beverage which makes such a big deal about its all-natural ingredients would actually contain kola. I know that most colas these days are not derived from the kola nut. But, come on guys, for such an expensive "real cola" beverage as this, let's use the real stuff.
